Using social media for career, branding and community building

The Social Media Club EDU-Richmond Chapter will host its first event at Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Mass Communications on October 12. This event is open to anyone interested in furthering the discussion of social media as it affects the education community. SMCEDU is an initiative to connect local Social Media Club chapters with Higher Level Education students and professors.

The panel discussion will offer social media perspectives of a student, recent graduate, professor, recruiter, and tech blogger. 

Panelists:

Trevor Dickerson is a 21-year-old VCU student, co-owner of RVA MediaWorks, Editor of DowntownShortPump.com, VP of Henrico Historical Society & Richmond.com columnist. (@trevordickerson)

Jolie O'Dell is a tech blogger for publications such as ReadWriteWeb, StartupLucky, Adrants, and Center Networks and is a consultant to publishers, serial entrepreneurs, startup teams, and advertising and marketing agencies. (@jolieodell)

Generra Peck, a recent graduate of the University of Richmond with a Business Administration/Marketing degree, is a social media enthusiast interested in higher education/marketing. (@generrapeck)
